Recipe for a 60ml deodorant spray.

This deodorant is perfect to take on holiday: one bottle to share. It’s a bacteria buster that contains witch hazel to soothe the skin and tighten pores, preventing excessive sweating.

The aromatherapy oils appeal to men and women for their ability to calm travel nerves and uplift. Whilst you will love the fragrance, mosquitoes and other bugs will not. Happy travels!

Ingredients

It’s worth investing in these multi-purpose ingredients. We’ll be using all of them in many different ways.

30 ml alcohol (96%) (42% proof vodka will also do)

30 ml witch hazel (hamamelis water)

6 drops sweet almond oil

50 drops of essential oils, consisting of:

5 drops eucalyptus (energizing)

5 drops lavender (adaptogen: will calm or energize, as required)

10 drops rose geranium ( energizing)

10 drops patchouli (calms the mind and emotions)

10 drops sandalwood (calms the mind and emotions)

10 drops pettigrain (reduces irritability especially from coffee and other stimulants)

Method

Day 1:

Blend the essential oils and sweet almond oil with the alcohol and leave to stand, if possible, for 24 – 48 hours. The longer they stand, the stronger the fragrance will be. Shake from time to time.

Day 2:

Add the witch hazel to the oil mix, shake well and bottle. Brown or blue glass bottles will make your deodorant last longer. The plastic travel size empty bottles from a pharmacy are ok.

Note: You can also use it as a hand santizer and to prevent athletes foot. Spritz it into a little cloud around you to instantly calm a frazzled energy body (just take your glasses off first!).

Take some witch hazel with you on holiday: It is astringent and anti inflammatory so it will soothe rashes, insect bites, stings and sunburn. Witch hazel is a great facial toner, reduces puffiness under the eyes, helps clear pimples and will stop minor cuts and scrapes from bleeding. Use it in a spray bottle or generously on cotton wool. Excellent for children.
